My First Blog Post !

“The World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.” – Thomas Paine

Hello World !

My name is Dennis Figueiredo from Goa, India. This is the first post on my new travel blog. I’m not sure how its gonna go but I thought i’d give it a shot. I love travelling and have been to 23 countries as of today (19/07/19). So I’m gonna be doing a lot of throwbacks to get started with some content.

My objective of creating this blog was to document and publish all my travels for my personal use and also to share my experiences while travelling to each country that I have been to. I have traveled with friends, family and solo and i believe each trip is unique and special to me in every way.

One of my life goals is to visit every country on earth if I possibly can. I regret today that i did not start travelling earlier in life so I’m the most of what’s left of it to do the same. There can be nothing better in this world than to wander the earth in search of the new. After all, Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer !

So stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

My First International Flight !

Prior to 2011 I wasn’t remotely interested in travelling like I am now, as I was too caught up with planning destination weddings in Goa. But it was always at the back of my mind that I had never visited another country besides my own. It was time for change. But wait! I didn’t even have my passport nor had i collected my convocation certificate which was needed to get one. And so the journey began.

My Mum needed a break and after my strenuous wedding season I needed one myself. As we have family settled all around the world we decided to pick a destination closest to us geographically and that was Singapore. Singapore is home to my cousin Natasha and her lovely family who had invited us to come time and again and who welcomed to host us for 10 days. And so we booked our flight tickets to Singapore.

I had no clue about flight comparing websites like Skyscanner.com back then so it was a simple google search and we probably booked the most expensive flight to Singapore via Singapore Airlines. We received quite a lot of taunting from family for doing the same as there were other cheaper budget airlines like Tiger, Jet Airways, etc which would’ve worked out cheaper but we had already booked by then.

We had to first fly from Goa to Mumbai to connect to Singapore Airlines. And as i waited and ultimately boarded the flight i was thrilled that i would finally be leaving the Indian subcontinent after 24 years of my life !

Singapore Airlines was an absolute treat. To this day i still remember the plush interiors and seats, comfortable leg space, the state of the art entertainment system, the scrumptious meal served and the beautiful air-hostesses dressed in their traditional Peranakkan outfits. In about 3 hours to began to descend and the views from the window seat were spectacular. The island of Singapore looked amazing from up above.
